I provide private-sector and nonprofit clients with innovative business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) writing, proposal writing and business development services, and technical writing for scientific and laboratory applications. The services I offer are described in more detail below.
B2B and B2C Content Development
Need to connect with your customers?
I write engaging, search-engine-optimized (SEO) content for B2B and B2C companies. My areas of expertise include science and technology applications, engineered products, outdoor products and services, laboratory and scientific applications, supply chain/logistics, and construction. I have firsthand experience working in/with these industries, and this experience informs my writing.
I write long-form blog posts for technical audiences, landing page copy, social media content, and marketing materials that engage and inform your customers. My writing is crafted to be both customer and search engine friendly.
Business Development
At different points in my career I’ve been a Proposal Manager juggling several proposals and a Project Manager who had to manage a proposal while keeping my current project running. I know how difficult each role can be, and I can help.
I write compliant and compelling proposals, whitepapers, RFI responses, and grants that get funders’ attention and generate new business. My methods are based on years of experience writing proposals that were funded by major foundations and federal agencies. I’ve done business development work for large nonprofit and private-sector organizations such as FHI 360 and Kforce Government Solutions (KGS). In addition to writing proposals and whitepapers, I provide the following business development services:
- Opportunity Research: How much do you know about the funding you intend to capture, and what are your chances? I research potential funding opportunities and donors, precedent projects, competitors, and potential partner organizations and provide detailed analyses to inform clients’ bid/no-bid decisions.
- Capture Strategy Development: Can you sit down (right now) and make a concise, plausible argument for your organization to be awarded the project you’re considering? What are your win themes? Why should the funder select your organization over your competitors? These are the questions I help clients to address (ideally) before they commit resources to pursuing an award.
- Proposal Tools and Infrastructure: One great way to add efficiency to your business development processes is to develop resources that increase your capacity to manage proposals. At the most basic level, I think of infrastructure in terms of IT systems and business development materials (templates, for example). (I’ll be blogging about this—check back soon!) I help clients consider the cloud-based software available and make choices about what systems would be best for their organization. In addition, I help clients develop standardized resources that can be customized or adapted for each grant or proposal rather than created from scratch.
- Proposal Production: I provide turnkey proposal development services such as writing, schedule development, cross-walking budgets with technical sections, facilitating/coordinating meetings, conducting review cycles and addressing reviewer comments, performing compliance checks, and copyediting. While I offer turnkey business development and proposal writing services, clients may choose to scale the scope of services offered to meet their needs and budget. Let’s chat if you are interested in the services I offer.
Technical Writing
I’m an experienced Technical Writer and Editor, and I specialize in accurately communicating complex information through clear and accessible language. Examples of my technical writing projects include software and coding manuals, construction specifications, business processes, standard operating procedures (SOPs) for laboratory applications, reports and deliverables for federal programs, compliance documentation, and training materials.
